The National Assembly immediately rejected on Wednesday the introductory article of the 2023 draft budget which sets the forecast for the public deficit at 5% of GDP, setting the tone for an examination which promises to be difficult for the government.
The deputies rejected this article by 192 votes against 175, with a coalition of oppositions, including LR, to the chagrin of the macronists, without an absolute majority at the Palais Bourbon.
“You are gathered Nupes, National Rally, LR, to deprive France of any course“, denounced the Minister of Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal. “We will assume our responsibilities so as not to deprive France of a budget“, he added.
The government is preparing to use Article 49.3 of the Constitution to pass this finance bill without a vote. The Council of Ministers gave the green light on Wednesday morning to its probable use “if the situation should require it“.
