Record game ends disappointingly for Bayern women

The women of FC Bayern Munich are in danger of missing out on their eternal rivals from Wolfsburg early in the season. In front of a record crowd, it wasn’t enough for the champions to win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The FC Bayern Munich footballers achieved a disappointing result at their Bundesliga premiere in the Allianz Arena in front of a record crowd. Coach Alexander Straus’ team had to be content with a 0-0 draw in front of 19,000 spectators in the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The highest number of visitors in a league game for the Munich team did not inspire the home team. The German champions found it difficult to create clear scoring chances against smart defending from Frankfurt despite having more control of the game. Lina Magull, who came into the starting lineup for the injured Pernille Harder, had the best opportunity of the first half with a long-range shot.

The champions were also unable to produce anything worth counting in the second half and started the season comparatively weakly with only two wins from the first four games. With a win on Sunday over RB Leipzig, eternal rivals VfL Wolfsburg could move to four points. Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, is slowly getting back on track in the Bundesliga after two defeats at the start of the season: most recently there was a hard-earned 3-1 at home against RB Leipzig.
In addition to the high number of spectators, there were other special features: On the occasion of “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” in October, a pink ribbon was integrated into the logo of the Munich women’s jersey sponsor as an international symbol in the fight against breast cancer. The Allianz Arena should also light up in pink after the final whistle. The aim of the actions was to send a “clear signal for breast cancer prevention,” FC Bayern explained before the game.
The Werder Bremen footballers had previously set a club attendance record. 21,508 spectators came to the Weserstadion for the 3-0 (1-0) win over 1. FC Köln. The attendance record in the women’s Bundesliga is held by the game between 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt from last season, which attracted 38,365 fans to the stadium.
