Bungie not spared from layoffs

Job cuts at PlayStation continue. After Media Molecule, this is the studio behind Destiny 2, Bungie, which finds itself caught in the storm. Several employees seem to be affected by a wave of layoffs within the company.

A short story first published by Jason Schreier, and very quickly confirmed by some of the employees concerned. Thus, Liana Ruppert, current Community Manager and co-responsible for accessibility on Destiny 2 shared his dismay on his X account – formerly Twitter.

“Well… my heart breaks for everyone involved. I am now looking for opportunities. I have 21 years of experience in the games industry in media, production and community management. I’m trying to digest it, I’m heartbroken. I don’t know what to do now…this was my home. I feel lost. »

Other employees have since confirmed their dismissals. Griffin Bennett, Bungie’s social media manager, Jason Guisao, editor-in-chief of the franchise and Matthew Bianchi, publication producer and events manager shared the news on their social networks.

However, we will still have to wait for an official communication to know the real extent of this umpteenth series of layoffs. And if the restructuring carried out by PlayStation does serious damage within its studios, it is the entire video game industry which finds itself in difficulty. And many studios like Team17, Frontier, Telltale Games, Naughty Dog or even Epic Games have had to go through job cuts to reduce their costs, despite a year full of success for some of them.
