She had already been sentenced in December to four years in detention for violating restrictions on the coronavirus, a sentence reduced to two years by the generals in power.
A secret place of detention
The 76-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate is serving this first sentence in the place where she has been held incommunicado since her arrest almost a year ago.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which awards the Nobel Peace Prize, denounced Monday the “political judgment” pronounced the same day against the former Burmese leader, winner of the prize in 1991. “The last judgment against Aung San Suu Kyi is a judgment political, “reacted the president of the Nobel committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, in a statement.
