Business travel: “constant” growth in 2024 according to FTM Consuting

(AOF) – “Business travel in the 1st quarter of 2024 experienced gradual and constant growth, which is expected to continue in the 2nd quarter of 2024”. This is what emerges from the latest quarterly report from FCM Consulting, a specialist consulting firm. The report shows that on average, across Europe, economy class ticket prices increased by 13% compared to the same month in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. The firm notes, however, that the costs of flights in the same class have not increased compared to last January.

“The European economy has resisted interest rate increases well, and the economic outlook is rather positive for the rest of the year,” emphasizes Juan Antonio Iglesias, director of FCM Consulting for the EMEA region,

He points out that “corporate budgets are growing with confidence, helping to maintain business travel trends.” “The average number of advance booking days increased to 26.7 for EMEA and the average travel duration increased to 4.6 days,” it said.

For him, the stability of booking volumes during the first quarter of 2024 means that demand for business travel remains stable and that the sector (airlines, hotels and car rental) “no longer has to worry about this demand “, now able to count on constant volumes.
