Schumacher’s future is well clear
Mick Schumacher recently expressed himself unclear about his future prospects and wishes, now his team boss speaks up – and explains that the matter has been largely resolved. Haas is already looking forward to another year with the German racing driver.
Mick Schumacher will apparently continue to drive for the US racing team Haas in Formula 1. His team boss Günther Steiner brushed aside the rumors of change in an interview with RTL / ntv reporter Felix Görner. “These are rumors. This is Formula 1, which is playing up a bit. At the moment it looks like we will be driving with the same driver pairing next year. We have to clarify a few details, but everything else is clear,” said the South Tyrolean .
Steiner is certain that Schumacher will benefit from staying. “What is important for Mick to stay in the same team. Bringing in a bit of a constant. He knows the people now, he knows our processes. The 22-year-old has been in the premier class since the start of this season. However, his car is hopelessly inferior in the field. In the team-internal duel against Nikita Mazepin (also an F1 newcomer) he is regularly ahead of the game. There is little hope for the coming season. Due to a rule revolution, there will be completely new cars in 2022. Maybe then Schumacher will also benefit in the Haas. “We’ll have a better car. How good, I don’t know yet. Schumacher remained guilty of a clear confession

Schumacher was supposed to celebrate his Formula 1 debut at the Nürburgring last year – and in the first free practice session in an Alfa he drove his first official kilometers on a race weekend. The rain ruined the plans at the time. “We will definitely see him in Formula 1 soon,” said Alfa Romeo boss Frédéric Vasseur at Sky – despite his mask with a clearly recognizable grin. “I think we are about to make a decision about our drivers for next year. Mick is of course an option, but it is also up to Ferrari to make a decision,” continued Vasseur.
The former Sauber racing team announced at the end of October that it would also rely on ex-world champions Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi in 2021. Instead, Haas announced at the beginning of December that Formula 2 world champion Schumacher would take over a cockpit in the future. At the season finale in Abu Dhabi, he drove the car of the US racing team Haas for the first time in the first free practice.
