Totally absent from the screens since the release of “X-Men: Dark Phoenix”, Michael Fassbender has put his career on hold to realize one of his biggest dreams.
After more than a decade of chaining projects of all kinds and establishing himself as one of the essential faces of cinema, Michael Fassbender mysteriously disappeared from the screens almost three years ago, after the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, in June 2019.
Indeed, after a first role noticed in the series Brothers in arms (created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks), the actor of German and Irish origin had multiplied the roles and explored all the registers in the years 2010.
Headliner of major Hollywood blockbusters (X-Men: The Beginning, Prometheus or more recently Assassin’s Creed), he has also distinguished himself in numerous auteur films such as Hunger, Shame, Frank or Song to Song.
Nominated twice for the Oscar for best actor (for 12 Years a Slave and Steve Jobs), he has not yet won the precious statuette.
But for many months, after having interpreted the formidable Magneto for the last time in the mutant saga of Marvel, Michael Fassbender has temporarily withdrawn from dark rooms.
As we learn by reading interviews with the actor on Top Gear or Kerry Motors, it is no longer in the cinema that you had to look for him lately, but rather on the motor circuits.

Indeed, the actor has decided to take a break from his Hollywood career in order to realize one of his biggest dreams: to run the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It was following a discussion with American comedian Patrick Dempsey (himself a driver) that Fassbender was offered the opportunity to compete in the Proton Competition at the wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR.
A challenge that took him three years to prepare, recounting his long training in a series of Youtube videos entitled Michael Fassbender: Road to Le Mans.
“I was stressed about playing in my first film or shooting with a great director”told the man who rubbed shoulders with Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott and Steve McQueen, at the microphone of Top Gear.
“I was trying to make a living out of it, so either it was a hit or miss. I’ll never be a professional race car driver, but it excites me, it means a lot to me. And I want to reach my full potential. So it’s a different kind of nervousness, a different kind of stress.”
After realizing his dream last summer, Michael Fassbender will soon be back on the road to film sets. Soon, we should see him on the poster of the sports drama Next Goal Wins, directed by Taika Waititi and centered on the Samoa football team.
He is also announced for the casting of Kung Fury (the sequel to the famous retro medium-length film of the same name), the remake of La Horde Sauvage signed by Mel Gibson, and David Fincher’s new film, entitled The Killer, telling the story of an assassin who begins to develop a conscience.
