By mistake, he puts diesel in a racing McLaren

As racing driver François Perrodo was about to spend a pleasant Sunday on the tracks, a careless mistake gave a completely different turn to his weekend.

At the wheel of his McLaren F1 GTR, François Perrodose stopped to refuel but was unlucky, he did not choose the right fuel. Not having yet become aware of his act, the pilot noted a failure without understanding the source. After calling a mechanic friend, he explained the problem, taking the situation with humor.

He thus published photos of the racing car on his networks. Above the tank, we can see a sticker on which is written “Francois No Diesel”.

“I don’t know what went through my mind at that exact moment (actually, probably nothing), but I was so happy and excited that I just grabbed the first gun available (which by the way was blue, like the 97 Ultime!) and started filling the car. (…) Anyway, very important advice to McLaren F1 owners: the car is great and you would think that Gordon has made no compromises. Except that he made one, the car does not run on diesel …”, he said, in the caption of the pictures.

A very popular collector’s car

The McLaren F1 GTR is a highly sought-after collector’s car, recognizable by the sound of its BMW V12 engine and whose value is around 10 million euros. It can go up to 20 million for the most popular models. Built in 1995, the car was presented and participated in the 24 hours of Le Mans. It even won the race overall, finishing ahead of prototypes like the Courage C34 and Courage Compétition.

It is for this reason that the error of François Perrodo aroused many reactions. Luckily for him, his mechanic friend seems to have the situation under control.
