Why these C&A branches are being closed

A company spokeswoman said about the selection of the branches: "We constantly check our branch network and decide on the basis of location-dependent market analyzes whether we will modernize, close or open a branch". C&A currently operates around 450 branches in Germany.

Regarding the employees affected by the closings, C&A explains: "We are making every effort to offer attractive alternatives to the employees affected by branch closures. This also includes the opportunity to work in surrounding branches."

The sixth generation of C&A is managed by the founding family. The letters C&A stand for the initials of the company founders Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer. The company's history begins in 1671. Since then, C&A has developed into one of the leading suppliers of modern clothing at affordable prices.

In 2017/18, C&A Europe recorded an increase in online shop sales of 14 percent.
