(CercleFinance.com) – The Paris stock market rose by almost 1% this morning, around 6,515 points, in the wake of the rebound made the day before by Wall Street after four sessions of decline, under the impetus of the good performance of the oil compartment.
At the end of the trade, the Dow Jones grabbed 0.3%, the S&P 500 won 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite ended up broadly stable.
The energy sector signed by far the best performance of the day (+1.4%) in the wake of crude prices which continued to rise above 76 dollars per barrel for American light crude oil (WTI).
Oil’s gains came against a backdrop of a weaker dollar, although the greenback strengthened slightly yesterday despite once again weaker housing data.
With trading volumes still expected to be sparse as Christmas approaches, investors should continue to avoid taking risks in the absence of major indicators on the agenda.
The session will only be punctuated by the publication, this afternoon in the United States, of sales of old homes and then of weekly oil inventories.
