Call for a strike on RER B on the day of the Champions League final

The strike could, however, have a small impact, because the RATP only operates the southern part of the RER B. From the Gare du Nord, it is the SNCF which manages the line towards the Stade de France.

The main trade unions of the RATP have called for a strike on the RER B for Saturday, the day of the Champions League final at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, in order to denounce the understaffing among drivers.

The strike could, however, have a small impact, because the RATP only operates the southern part of the RER B. From the Gare du Nord, it is the SNCF which manages the line towards Saint-Denis and the Stade de France. The disturbances could therefore be concentrated only on the southern section. The CGT Métro-RER, the traction pole of FO, Unsa and La Base called in a leaflet on Monday to “strongly impact this event in order to bring the demands of the driving category to the management“.

These trade unionsshare the same observation on the understaffed management of the RER department resulting in serious deterioration of our working conditions“, they indicate. “We are received urgently on Tuesday (by the management) following a social alarm on the lack of staff“Said Jean-Luc Prigent, CGT union representative at the RER. “We ask to upgrade the driving staff“, he said, denouncing “managerial excessesinduced by the plan to open up the RATP networks to competition. On the perimeter of the RER, the opening to competition is scheduled for 2039 at the latest, but the schedule could be brought forward at any time.

The Champions League final is due to pit Liverpool against Real Madrid on Saturday. Initially planned in Saint Petersburg in Russia, it was relocated to the Stade de France after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
