Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, $800 million in revenue in three days

Last year, Activision remained very silent after the release of Call of Duty: Vanguardsuggesting that the title of Sledgehammer Games did not meet with the expected success. But this time, the publisher is much more talkative following the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II last week.

sony had previously announced that the title was the biggest launch on its Playstation Storebut Activision now shares a press release to take stock. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II generated over $800 million in revenue in just three daysthis is the best launch weekend for a COD. The publisher even goes so far as to compare it to movies like Top Gun: Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhich did not make as much money in their first weekend of theatrical release.

The previous revenue record was held by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was 775 million in five days. This 2011 opus had generated more than a billion dollars in two weeks, CoD: MWII should do the same, but much faster. Bobby Kotick, CEO ofActivision-Blizzardobviously rubbing his hands:

Thank you to our talented team who have created magic through extraordinary artistry and technology, and to the global community of gamers who find joy and connection through Call of Duty. This record belongs to them.

Now players are waiting for the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, scheduled for November 16. You can find Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II at €64.90 on Amazon.
