Call of Duty Warzone 2 is reportedly in development and we’ve decided to round up everything we know about it for the most eager gamers. From its potential release window to the platforms concerned, find here all the first details on it.
Undoubtedly today the most popular battle royale in the world, Warzone could well go through its biggest upheaval in its history. Indeed, Activision’s goose would be preparing for its first sequel.
Warzone 2 as it is currently called, would be in development course at Activision. Although we are certainly still at the beginning of its construction and that many details remain to be clarified, here is all the information we already have in order to know everything about this sequel necessarily eagerly awaited by the community.
An exact release date for Warzone 2 has yet to be revealed. Indeed, the first information from Jason Schreier from Bloomberg remained very vague on this subject.
However, Warzone 2 would be planned for a launch in 2023 according to Schreier. So that puts us almost three years after the initial release of the battle royale.
While waiting for more information on a possible release date, it should be remembered that the release of Warzone was in March 2020, where traditionally Call of Duty games are released in the fourth quarter of the year.
With the recent rumor Activision’s choice to no longer release a Call of Duty per year, it is not impossible that the next cycle will come together to release jointly. However, you will have to be a little patient to find out more.
For the moment, nothing has filtered as to the platforms that would be affected by this Warzone 2. While the current battle royale is playable on both the old and the new generation of consoles, this sequel could well change that.
Warzone 2 could indeed only be in development on Xbox Series X | S, PS5 and PC according to Tom Henderson and who would be as he describes it “a completely new game for the best machines.”
This therefore means that in order to be able to continue playing, PS4 and Xbox One owners will certainly have to take the step of the new generation by 2023.
We are indeed expecting a significant graphic improvement in the game as well as better performance for console players, in particular with the functionality much in demand adjustment of the field of vision.
Warzone 2 details and gameplay
As a sequel in its own right, unlike major Warzone patches, we expect to see some major gameplay changes. As for knowing exactly what the developers are preparing, that is still quite unclear.
If nothing official has yet been unveiled, Henderson hinted that a major difference with Warzone was in preparation.
“No integration of past weapons“, he reported on January 26.
This therefore suggests that all weapons from Modern Warfare 2019, Black Ops Cold War, CoD Vanguard as well as the Modern Warfare 2: 2022 to come, would be left out.
We currently have no information about the cards that would be present when Warzone 2 is released. We can thus imagine a mix between iconic cards from the license or something entirely new.
As a reminder, Warzone has had three different maps in two years of existence. Verdansk, Rebirth Island, and Caldera have all been deployed in milestone events for the game.
As far as we know, it is highly likely that the release of Modern Warfare 2 in 2022 will be accompanied by a new map for Warzone. As to whether this will tell us about a possible Warzone 2 location, it’s too early to tell.
Still, it is highly likely (and expected) that a sequel to Warzone will largely take place through its own completely new map.
