The actor Camden Toy succumbed to cancer. He achieved cult status through the numerous depictions of demons and vampires.

The US actor Camden Toy is dead. The actor, who became world famous for his various roles in the hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, died at the age of 68 on Monday evening in his home in California, according to consistent media reports of pancreatic cancer. It was only at the weekend that his family announced via Facebook that things were bad for Camden Toy. A statement said that the cancer diagnosis had already been made in February 2022 and that unfortunately we had now reached the end of the road.

“His condition has deteriorated greatly over the last two months and has deteriorated dramatically in the last few days,” said his partner Bethany Henderson in a December 8th post. It breaks her heart to watch the love of her life disappear before her eyes. Toy decided not to disclose his illness beforehand “for many reasons.” For this she apologized to her husband’s fans.

Camden Toy was the master of monster depiction

Toy had achieved cult status thanks to his appearances, which were usually heavily made up. Early in his career he specialized in impersonating monsters, demons, vampires and other horrors. He can also be seen under different masks in different roles in the hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. For example as the fan-favorite demon Gnarl or as one of the gentlemen in the Emmy-nominated cult episode “Hush”

In an interview, leading actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (46) once said that she didn’t know Toy’s face for a long time because he always appeared on set heavily made up. In similar appearances he played in the later spin-off “Angel – Hunters of Darkness”, but also in other series such as “Shameless”, “The Mentalist” and “Into the Dark”. In total he can be seen in more than 60 film and television productions. Toy came to film through his father, who also worked as an actor and primarily as a make-up artist in Hollywood.
