On the occasion of the broadcast of the cult film Camping on Sunday June 12, 2022, from 9:15 p.m. on TF1, Télé Star reveals to you why this feature film was dedicated to the actor Jacques Villeret.
Released in cinemas in 2006, the cult movie Campingdirected by Fabien Ontenientewill be rebroadcast on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 9:15 p.m. on TF1, either just after the election evening of the first channel, devoted to the first round of the legislative elections. TF1 had taken the same decision during the first round of the presidential election on Sunday April 10, 2022, given that the channel had scheduled a rerun of the cult comedy Visitors right after election night. Carried by Franck Dubosc, Gérard Lanvin, Mathilde Seigner, Antoine Duléry, Claude Brasseur and Mylène Demongeot, this feature film was a real hit when it was released in theaters, with nearly 5.5 million entrieswhich will lead to the production of two sequels, released in 2010 and 2016 respectively.
As a reminder, the idea of the film Camping is partly at the initiative of Franck Dubosc. comedian, whose first major role on the big screen, had behind him a great experience of this practice, given that he camped until he was 36 years old. About Franck Dubosc, director Fabien Onteniente said: “My collaboration with Franck was born from a real complicity. It is true that he has many years of camping behind him and that his contribution in ‘truth material’ was substantial. But above all, we both come from working-class backgrounds, which allowed us to recognize each other. We have, I believe, the same respect for simple people“. If the main role of Camping was therefore predestined to Franck Dubosc, the rest of the cast almost looked slightly different.
Camping: Jacques Villeret should have played in the film
Indeed, the role of Jacky Pic, embodied on screen by the late Claude Brasseur, was originally written for actor Jacques Villeret, who died before filming. “We met at Bofinger around a gourmet table. He told us about the ‘cuddly’ (essential camper accessory, editor’s note). And then one day, we learn of his death. I continued writing while thinking of him. It was hard to imagine another face. Through my agent, I meet Claude Brasseur one rainy morning. I tell him that it is difficult for me to replace Jacques. He understands, and says to me in his big voice: ‘I’ll play the movie for him up there. We will dedicate it to him. Top here !“, remembered Fabien Onteniente. This is why Camping is dedicated to Jacques Villeret.
