Braunschweig scores ten points
The KSC inflicts a lot of suffering on Hansa Rostock in four minutes

After the struggle for promotion on Friday, it is now the turn of the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga: Thanks to a dream goal at half-time, Hansa Rostock is on course for an important three-pointer, but Karlsruher SC turns the game around in four minutes. Things get wild in Fürth against Braunschweig.

Hansa Rostock – Karlsruher SC 1:2 (1:0)

Hansa Rostock’s relegation worries are getting bigger and bigger. The 1:2 (1:0) against Karlsruher SC means Rostock’s fourth defeat in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga. After Rostock’s Nico Neidhart (33′) took the lead at half-time, Karlsruhe countered with a double strike from Budu Zivzivadze (52′) and Marvin Wanitzek (56′). Hansa remains in 17th place.

KSC got off to a better start in the game. The supposed lead by Zivzivadze was revoked via video evidence due to an offside position (6th). A disjointed game developed. Hansa tried to be dangerous on the counterattack, Neidhart completed an attack with a fantastic long-range shot to take the lead 1-0 (33′).

After the break, the KSC caught the Rostock team ice cold. After a fine combination, Zivzivadze scored first to make it 1-1 (52′), and a short time later Wanitzek scored with a penalty kick to make it 2-1 for the guests (56′). Dennis Dressel almost had a direct answer for Hansa, but his long-range shot hit the post (59′). In the final spurt, Rostock tried hard but had no luck.

Hansa remains in a direct relegation zone, one point behind the relegation zone and two points behind a non-relegation zone. Competitors can increase the gap even further. Kaiserslautern plays against Magdeburg in the evening (8.30 p.m./Sky), Wehen Wiesbaden welcomes promotion candidate Holstein Kiel on Sunday (1.30 p.m./Sky).

SpVgg Greuther Fürth – Eintracht Braunschweig 3:3 (1:2)

Eintracht Braunschweig gave up an important victory in the fight to stay in the league when they were outnumbered. The German champions from 1967 lost their first success against fearful opponents SpVgg Greuther Fürth in nine years after a 2-0 lead and had to be content with a 3:3 (2:1).

When Eintracht captain Robin Krauße (45th + 4) flew off the field after a serious foul on Fürth’s captain Branimir Hrgota, the Lions were still leading 2-1. Thorir Helgason (12th) and Rayan Philippe (15th) scored. But Tim Lemperle (33rd), Robert Wagner (67th) and Armindo Sieb (75th) turned the tide with his twelfth goal of the season.

But Braunschweig didn’t give up and at least got a point through Philippe (79′). Goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann held on to this when he parried Lemperle’s penalty kick caused by Ermin Bicakcic (88th). Fürth lost Maximilian Dietz early on, who was injured without any opposition and had to be substituted (6th). Just another six minutes later, Helgason initiated the visitors’ lead with a break and scored after Marvin Rittmüller’s preparatory work. Gomez increased in a one-on-one against goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.

After the goal, the experienced Krauße went into a duel against Hrgota with his leg stretched – referee Richard Hempel had no choice in sending him off. Before Fürth made it 3-2, Braunschweig couldn’t get the ball out of the danger zone on a corner.
