In this context, every day, you are left with coffee grounds that you certainly don’t know what to do with. We may be in the habit of throwing it directly in the trash or compost, but know that it can be very useful at home. You can, for example, use it to get rid of residue stuck to the bottom of a pot or pan or even as a refrigerator deodorizer. What about the sink? Many people have the reflex of putting their coffee grounds directly in the sink. Opinions are divided on this question, with some believing that it helps the pipes function properly while others think that it damages them. Ultimately, no one is really right or wrong.
Is putting coffee grounds in the sink a good idea?
In fact, it’s all about balance, quantity and the type of sink. Clearly, if your sink is completely clogged, using coffee grounds is not going to help you. On the contrary, it could obstruct it even more and make the situation worse. In this case, use a suction cup or a specific product to unclog the pipes.
You can put the coffee grounds in your sink to maintain it regularly. It is a very good deodorizer and would also be an excellent degreaser. It is therefore advisable to add it from time to time but in reasonable quantities. So, avoid emptying your entire coffee filter into the sink, but opt for one or two tablespoons. If you’ve just cut an onion or handled fish or shellfish, then coffee grounds will be your friend. The unpleasant smell that has settled on your hands could disappear.
