If you don’t have your card with you, you can still withdraw money from your bank account if you urgently need it. That said, this maneuver is obviously only possible in an establishment of the bank of which you are a customer since only it has access to your account, and therefore to your liquidity.

The classic solution: the bank counter
For a long time, the only option was to go to your bank counter to ask for your cash. It is still possible to do so, provided that the establishment in question has a cashier service, which is not the case for all agencies. If this is the case, all you have to do is go there with a valid ID.
You will then fill out a check or withdrawal slip to hand in at the counter before the money is given to you. Please note: if your bank card is subject to ATM withdrawal limits, these also apply to over-the-counter withdrawals. This measure remains very practical, for example if you have lost your card or are waiting for the new one. But beyond an amount of 1,500 euros, you are required to inform your bank at least 24 hours in advance.
The practical solution: the smartphone application
Fortunately, thanks to new technologies, it is even easier to access your cash without your bank card. All you have to do is go to your bank’s application on your smartphone: you can check if it offers a remote cash withdrawal service, and if this has been activated with your bank advisor. If so, all you have to do is select the account and the amount you want to debit. You will then receive a code, often by SMS, which you must enter at the ATM of an establishment dependent on your bank. An even simpler and faster solution to avoid headaches.
