OTTAWA, May 3 (Reuters) – Canadian police have arrested three Indian nationals who have been charged with intentional homicide over the killing of a Sikh separatist activist found dead last year in the western suburbs of Vancouver. Canada.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead last June outside a Sikh temple in the city of Surrey, in the province of British Columbia.
A few months later, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canadian security services were investigating accusations of a potential link between Indian government officers and the assassination of the leader of the Sikh community, which which had triggered a diplomatic crisis between New Delhi and Ottawa.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they were investigating to determine whether any links existed between the three men and the Indian government.
The three men were arrested Friday in Edmonton, Alberta, police said. They are expected to arrive in British Columbia by Monday.
