(AOF) – The Canal+ group has increased its stake in Viu, a Hong Kong streaming operator, to 30%, in accordance with the terms of the transaction announced on June 21, 2023. After Viu achieved ambitious business objectives, the French group released a further part of its $300 million staged investment, bringing its stake in Viu to 30% of the capital. The initial investment was revealed in June 2023.
This additional investment attests to “the Canal+ group’s commitment to making Asia its next growth engine through its strategic partnership with the PCCW group to accelerate the growth of Viu, a leading streaming service present in Asia, in Middle East and South Africa,” the company explained.
At the end of this investment of 300 million, the Canal+ group will have an option in its hand to increase its stake in Viu to 51%.
