Candice Renoir: France 2 cancels season 11

After announcing that “Candice Renoir” would be entitled to a season 11, France Télévisions finally reversed its decision to the great misfortune of fans of the detective series worn by Cécile Bois.

Bad news for Candice Renoir fans. France 2’s flagship series will not return for season 11, contrary to what was announced last May. It was during an interview given to our colleagues from Parisian that Anne Holmes, the program director of France Télévisions, announced that this new burst of episodes would not finally see the light of day.

We wonder if we shouldn’t make fewer recurring fictions and more mini-series to create the event” she explained. “On Saturday evening, on France 3, Cassandre does not deserve and will continue.

But we are also looking for other heroes for this space. On France 2, we will not make six new episodes of Candice Renoir but event prime times: one was shot in Corsica. The second, currently being written, around Halloween, is planned for Marseille.

It is therefore a new change of course for Candice Renoir whose destiny has known many twists and turns in recent years. In 2021, France Télévisions announced that season 10 would be the last, but a surprise delighted fans of the series led by Cécile Bois.

In May 2022, Anne Holmes revealed that the police series would return for a season 11 consisting of 6 episodes of 52 minutes, which would see Candice and Antoine leave Sètes to go to Marseille, where she was transferred.

The idea came when we started working on the first 90 minute special”, explained the program director at the time. “We said to ourselves that by changing the location, with all that implies new relationships, new colleagues and new settings, there was still potential.

We must therefore believe that this new idea did not have enough potential for the channel, which preferred to change its mind in order to go back to its initial project, which was to offer one-off special episodes which should take the form of event-driven investigations of 90 minutes, like collections like Alex Hugo or Cesar Wagner.

Note that the 10 seasons of Candice Renoir are available in full on the Salto streaming platform.
