CANNESERIES 2022: Halo, the sequel to La Flamme, an actress from Euphoria… the whole festival program!


CANNESERIES has unveiled the selection for its fifth edition, which will take place from April 1 to 6. Between world premieres, new seasons and expected series, discover the program of this unmissable festival!

Between exceptional previews, expected European and world productions and short formats from different backgrounds, the program for the fifth edition of the CANNESERIES festival, free and open to all, promises to be rich.

24 series presented (10 in Long Format Competition, 10 in Short Format Competition and 4 out of Competition), guests of honor, appointments, prestigious meetings,… and all that in Cannes, from April 1st to 6th 2022.

CANNES EVENTS AND MEETINGS

Many prizes will be awarded during this CANNESERIES 2022. Thus, Gillian Anderson (X-Files, Sex Education, The Great) will receive the Variety Icon Award while Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus) will obtain the distinction of the Rising Star Award from Miss Figaro. For its part, Konbini will once again present its Commitment Award after having rewarded Laurie Nunn (Sex Education) last year.

The spotlight will be given to French fiction and daily newspapers with meetings and signings with the teams of Here Everything Begins, Tomorrow Belongs to Us and Plus Belle La Vie, but also Marion, Astrid and Raphaëlle, L’Île aux 30 Cercueils, Des Gens Bien Ordinaires and Section de Recherches and the first episode of the documentary series on Soprano.

The festival will also focus on France TV and France TV Slash creations by presenting seasons 2 of Parlement, Derby Girl and the documentary series Skateboard: Horizon Verticale.

Also planned: a focus on South Korean production with the intervention of the creator/director and the producer of Squid Game, Dong-Huyk Hwang and Kim Ji-Yeon, and the screening of episodes of 3 Korean series.

In addition, CANNESERIES continues to celebrate screenwriters with the CANNESERIES Writer’s Club, with meetings in the form of masterclasses or round tables in English during which screenwriters can share their experiences and discuss with producers and showrunners.

Finally, middle and high school students will be able to meet a member of the Fortiche animation studio (behind the immense success Arcane, a series adapted from the League of Legends video game) and the team from the documentary series Rêves.

LONG SERIES IN COMPETITION

Based on real events, 1985 takes the audience back to the turmoil of the 80s, when the Brabant Killers spread terror.

This is Ester, the one you think is immortal because it’s simply impossible to think of a world without her. When she learns that she has cancer, everyone around her is affected. Her husband, her children, her friends. They all begin to question their own lives and mortality. This story could have been the sad tale of a dying woman but Ester wouldn’t have allowed it. Instead, it’s a story of Amiur, and Life, and all those amazing, and sometimes silly things you do before you die.

  • Audrey is back (Canada)
