After several days of competition, the various juries have given their verdict on the series presented at CANNESERIES. Here is the winners of this sixth season of the Cannes International Series Festival.
Season 6 of CANNESERIES, which ran from April 14 to 19, ended on a high note with the preview screening of the first two episodes of the fifth and final season of The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel series. During the six days of the festival, nearly 30,000 people came to attend the 36 meetings offered, between screenings, discussions and signings, which were held in the legendary Auditorium Lumière and the prestigious Espace Miramar room.
For several days, the three international juries discovered series from all over the world in order to award prizes to their favourites. As a reminder, the Jury for long series, chaired by Lior Raz (actor, producer, screenwriter), included Shirine Boutella (actress), Daryl McCormack (actor), Stewart Copeland (musician and composer) and Zabou Breitman (actress, director and director).
The Jury for short series, chaired by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo (actors, screenwriters and directors), included Marina Rollman (actress and comedian) and Simona Tabasco (actress). As for the Jury for documentary series, chaired by Asif Kapadia (director), it included Mélissa Theuriau (journalist and producer) and Nathalie Marchak (screenwriter and director).
As for major events, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) received the CANAL+ Icon Award while Konbini presented its Commitment Award to Joey Soloway, to whom we owe the series Transparent and I Love Dick. . Finally, Europe 1 awarded the Audience Prize to the favorite French series of spectators in France: Les Combattantes.

Best Series
Power Play (Norway)
At the end of the 1970s, Gro Harlem Brundtland, who worked as a young doctor, was fighting for the right to abortion, and almost by chance found himself involved in politics. As the government implodes, Gro learns to play her own power games, and rises through the ranks until she is the last one standing, amidst the ruins of social democracy so much advocated by the Labor Party, thus becoming, in 1981, the first female Prime Minister of Norway.
Best Short Series
The Left-Handed Son (Spain)
Lola, a well-to-do Sevillian mother, sees her youngest son fall into the midst of a radical group. By trying to understand it and recover it, she will get closer to Maru, a mother from another social class, who is going through a situation similar to hers.
Best Documentary Series
Draw For Change! (Belgium)
Thanks to a mix of documentary and animation, the series explores many themes such as feminicide, freedom of the press, or the representation of women. Despite the challenges of censorship and the death penalty, these rebellious artists refuse to give up and strive to change their society.
Best interpretation
Dar Zuzovsky in Corduroy (Israel)
Danielle doesn’t believe in love but falls in love with Ido, a married man who recently became a young father. No one pushes her for excellence but she fights for her place at work. Her best friend is in love with her, she talks to her boss about her sex life, and her mother smokes joints with her – but even though Danielle is uninhibited, she sticks to her limits.
Special Interpretation Prize
The cast of Carthago (Israel)
Inspired by a true story. 1942, the world is at war, the Nazis have invaded Europe and the Jews of Palestine are in open rebellion against British rule. The latter thus built Carthago, a prison camp in the depths of Africa, where Italian fascists, Nazi spies and even Jewish terrorists are imprisoned. Elijah Levi, an innocent Jewish comedian, finds himself imprisoned in Carthago. There, he will discover that the camp commander’s wife is none other than his former mistress, Helena. They know that if this gets out, they will both die. A desperate Elijah joins forces with notorious Nazi spy Thomas Edinburgh. Together, they will prepare one of the most daring escapes in the history of the Second World War.

Bargain (South Korea)
Hyung Soo, in the middle of negotiating a price for a sexual service rendered by Joo Young, finds himself trapped and priced in an auction house that is part of human organ trafficking. In an instant, the various parts of his body are up for sale and many people start screaming for purchase prices. As her kidney is being sold to Geuk Ryul, an earthquake occurs and the building begins to collapse. Any crime can be buried under the latter; people will then become monsters for money.
