Like “Fresh” or the “Dahmer” series before it, “Bones and All” reminds us that cannibalism has been one of the big trends in recent months. The proof by five.
Have a good meal, of course ! Or not. Because one of the major horrific trends of the year 2022 is cannibalism, which we already found in Barbarque last year. Like vampires or zombies, eaters of human flesh are making a comeback, on the small and big screen, like the recent Bones and All.
While the film that marks the reunion of Timothée Chalamet and director Luca Guadagnino has just been released in theaters, and many viewers have not yet recovered from the series on Jeffrey Dahmer, here are five films and series on the subject. At the risk of cutting your appetite.

Five years after the Call Me By Your Name phenomenon (released in 2018 in France but whose journey had begun the previous year), Timothée Chalamet finds director Luca Guadagnino for a new romance. A little bloodier this time around.
Bones and All indeed shows the bonds that are woven between two young cannibals: Maren (Taylor Russell McKenzie, rewarded in Venice), gone on the American roads in search of her mother, and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), whom she meets on her way, and endowed with the same appetite for human flesh as her.
Thanks to this story where violence intervenes in flashes, while creating real unease, the director crosses the America of the left behind and uses cannibalism as a metaphor for the marginality of his heroes. And asks the following question: can two damned souls love each other? Response in theaters.

Dahmer: Monster – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer

Between 1978 and 1991, in the United States, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered and dismembered seventeen men. Some are even eaten. These atrocities, committed in the most total indifference, earned him the nickname of “the cannibal of Milwaukee”. With Dahmer, creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan look back on the murderer’s youth and highlight the victims’ struggle to be heard.
Composed of 10 episodes, the Netflix series did not go unnoticed. Although its violence is largely suggested, the plot shows an extreme darkness, carried by the impressive interpretation of Evan Peters. In its second, more political part, the series comes to touch its subject in the heart. It is a whole system, promoting racism and homophobia, which is pointed out. Do not miss.

A critical and public success, Yellowjackets is more than an heir to Lost. The series takes place in two time periods: one in the 1990s where the members of a women’s soccer team try to survive in a hostile environment after a plane crash, the other today where the survivors of this tragic event are overtaken by the past and by their traumas.
This poignant and rather rock survivalist drama borrows a lot from its main inspiration, the famous novel His Majesty of the Flies, in a very bloody version. At the time of the crash, the high school girls will find it difficult to live in community as they face dangerous occult forces that will push them to break the taboo of cannibalism.
At least, that’s what the first season of the series suggests without showing any act of cannibalism. But we suspect that they did not eat only animal meat to survive nineteen months and the highly anticipated season 2 of the series will certainly have a more gory and bloody color.
