Capcom gives hope in this time of crisis

The video game industry is in a complicated situation right now, but Capcom has just brought a light into the darkness. There is hope for the future.

If you follow the news around the video game sphere, you should know that the medium is in crisis. Since last year, there have been layoffs all over the place. Embracer, EA, Microsoft, no one is spared. Recently, it was PlayStation which particularly shocked, with around 900 people fired. So obviously, lately, we haven’t been smiling too much. Fortunately, Capcom has just made an announcement that contrasts a bit with everything we have been told.

It was in a press release that the firm made a big revelation. From fiscal year 2025, it will increase the salaries of “new recruits”. Currently, we are told that it is located at ¥235,000. Then it will increase to ¥300,000, which is quite enticing. In Capcom’s own words, it also counts “continue its investments in human capital and the acquisition of exceptional talents”. The studio will undoubtedly recruit many people, which is good to know after all these waves of layoffs which are undermining morale.

The Japanese company adds that it will make a special payment for all employees in fiscal year 2024. We don’t know exactly what this means, but it seems to be quite substantial. Of course, it also plans to increase its workforce as soon as possible. Generally speaking, Capcom says it wants “deal with the problems that impact society” And improve its corporate value and establish a relationship of trust with employees and shareholders”. Obviously, this is a reference to the worrying state in which the estate finds itself. It is therefore a laudable decision, and we hope that others will follow suit.
