Capital as a hotspot – Global climate demonstrations start in Vienna’s city center

“Fridays for Future” is calling for a global climate strike on Friday. There are also busy demonstrations in Austria, especially in Vienna. In the state capital, the demonstration train starts at 12 p.m. in the city center.

Largest demo expected in Vienna The largest demo procession is to take place in Vienna. The demo starts at 12 p.m. with a rally near Vienna-Mitte. A short time later the crowds move towards the city center. The route leads past Schwarzenbergplatz and then continues to Parliament. The last stop is Heldenplatz, where there will also be a final rally and further speeches. Numerous groups, including the Last Generation Austria, will take part in the climate strike. Thousands of participants are again expected in Austria. Large-scale traffic disruptions There will also be strikes on Friday in Graz, Innsbruck, Bregenz, Salzburg, Linz, Klagenfurt, St. Pölten, Mistelbach, Pressbaum and Kufstein. You should expect large-scale traffic disruptions throughout Austria. Climate disaster summit to be convened The demonstrators’ central demand is addressed to Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). He should convene a “national climate disaster summit”. Politicians promise climate protection, but do too little, according to “Fridays for Future”.
