Chickens take every opportunity to get new treats in new territory. Crossing a street doesn’t bother her either. A cyclist is now injured because of the animals unexpectedly crossing the road.
On Thursday around 5:30 p.m., a 60-year-old was driving his racing bike downhill and at around 60 km/h on the Grutschen state road L 146 in Granitztal when chickens ran onto the road at a farm. The cyclist could no longer avoid them and could not brake in time. He ran over a chicken, fell and remained injured on the shoulder. Another road user alerted the rescue workers. The 60-year-old was admitted to the LKH Wolfsberg.
