The whole of Great Britain clapped on Wednesday evening at the same time in honor of the recently deceased national hero Captain Sir Tom Moore.

His corona donation run on the rollator around his 100th birthday in spring 2020 made Captain Sir Tom Moore (1920-2021) world famous. After his death on Tuesday (February 2nd), the British honored their national hero with applause and standing ovations on Wednesday evening.

Thousands of people clapped in the streets that evening, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 56, and his fiancée, Carrie Symonds, 32, outside 10 Downing Street. Before the evening football games kicked off in London, Leeds and many other British stadiums, the Corona hero was also thought of clapping. The staff of the hospital in which Captain Sir Tom Moore died of a corona infection on Tuesday at the age of 100 also took part in the action, as reported by the Daily Mail.

With his donation run, Captain Sir Tom Moore had raised 32 million pounds (about 36 million euros) for the British health service NHS and its fight against the corona pandemic. For his commitment, he was even knighted by Queen Elizabeth II (94) in July 2020.
