After the arrest of RAF terrorist Daniela Klette, more details from the previous investigations become known. Accordingly, the 65-year-old had large amounts of cash and gold in her apartment and a weapon that the police had been looking for for decades.

According to “Spiegel”, when the investigators searched the apartment of ex-terrorist Daniela Klette, they came across a firearm that had been wanted for decades. This is a nine-millimeter Heckler & Koch pistol, which, according to investigators, was stolen in November 1984 during a spectacular RAF raid in Maxdorf, Rhineland-Palatinate.

At that time, two RAF members, who have not yet been identified, overpowered the owner of a gun store and stole 22 handguns, two repeating shotguns and around 2,800 rounds of ammunition. Parts of the arsenal with which the so-called third generation of the RAF waged its “armed struggle” against the state later resurfaced: three pistols were discovered during a search of a conspiratory apartment in Offenbach, and another was discovered on RAF terrorist Eva, who was arrested in 1986 Haule. The RAF members Birgit Hogefeld and Wolfgang Grams also had pistols from the attack with them when they were captured by the GSG9 in Bad Kleinen in 1993.

But many of the weapons captured in Maxdorf remained missing – apparently until Daniela Klette’s hiding place was discovered in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Investigators are currently checking whether, in addition to the Heckler & Koch pistol seized there, other weapons hidden at Klette’s home came from RAF raids.

Cash, gold and underground equipment

The 65-year-old Klette was arrested on February 26th in her apartment in Kreuzberg. She is said to have lived there for around 20 years. During the search of the approximately 40 square meter social apartment, the police found, among other things, a rocket-propelled grenade with a warhead, a Kalashnikov rapid-fire rifle, and live ammunition had been stored in Tupperware containers.

According to Spiegel, the officers also found a wooden cupboard with a false bottom. Around 40,000 euros in cash and a pistol with two full magazines were hidden there. Burdock had hidden 1.2 kilos of gold in another piece of furniture. In two suitcases, which forensic scientists initially thought were explosive devices, there was also a jammer, several cell phones and ID cards, a balaclava and “various documents related to the RAF,” the officers noted.

An investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe opened an arrest warrant from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office from 2018 to Klette on Thursday. This concerns allegations of her involvement in attacks by the Red Army Faction (RAF) in the 1990s. At the same time, an investigation is underway against the 65-year-old in Lower Saxony for robberies of money transporters and supermarkets.
