Car collision in Tyrol – the driver ran into oncoming traffic while looking for Essen

In Söll in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein, two cars collided on Friday afternoon because the 85-year-old driver of a car wanted to get something to eat from the passenger seat. She ended up in the opposite lane.

The 85-year-old drove shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday on the B178 Loferer Straße in the municipality of Söll towards St. Johann. She later told police that she reached into the passenger seat to get something to eat. The Austrian woman ended up in the other lane, where a 65-year-old was coming towards her in his car. A collision occurred. The man’s car spun, hit the guardrail and a traffic control post and then came to a stop facing the direction of travel. The senior’s car came to a stop in a field. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital. The 85-year-old was injured in the accident. The rescue took her to the hospital in Kufstein. The 65-year-old local man remained uninjured. However, there was significant damage to his car and the woman’s car. After the accident, Loferer Straße was only accessible two-way for around two hours.
