A man believed to have been involved in torturing Ukrainian prisoners in Russian-occupied Berdyansk has been killed, according to Ukrainian military intelligence. In the morning his car exploded in Berdyansk, writes the secret service HUR. And further: Yevhen Ananyevsky built torture chambers on the site of a Berdyansk penal colony for which he worked. Without admitting responsibility for the crime, the secret service writes that every war criminal will be punished.
Russian investigators confirm a car explosion in Berdyansk, located in the Russian-occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation informsthat the murder of an employee of a correctional facility in Berdyansk was being investigated. An unknown person placed a homemade explosive device under the car. The Russian investigative agency explains that the victim died of his injuries on site. A videowhich is published by the investigators, shows a completely destroyed car.
There have been repeated attacks on Russian officials, their deputies and collaborators, the news portal says “Kyiv Independent”. These attacks took place both in the occupied territories and within Russia. As a rule, Kiev does not comment on this, and there is no official commitment from the Ukrainian side. The portal points out that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has registered more than 128,000 suspected victims of war crimes. War crimes include attacks on the civilian population, torture, deportations, and attacks on medical facilities and cultural sites.
Berdyansk was captured by Russian troops in the first weeks of the war in 2022. The port city is located southwest of Mariupol on the Sea of Azov.
