Carla Bruni has a special history with Italy, especially with the city of the Adriatic lagoon, Venice. She is currently there to unveil the archives of the Mostra in the documentary in which she brings her voice entitled The lion’s share: a history of the Mostra, directed by Baptiste Etchegaray and Giuseppe Bucchi. Throughout the documentary, we discover archival footage and interviews through time with big names in cinema. such as Cate Blanchett or Pedro Almodóvar. Asked by the Sunday newspaper in an interview published on newsstands on Sunday September 3, 2023, the wife of Nicolas Sarkozy made revelations about his ambitions in terms of cinema. “I had some experiences”she began by recalling. “Woody Allen did me the honor of playing in his choral film Midnight in Paris. But, to be completely honest, I don’t think I belong there.”, she confided. However, the theater boards seduce her. “Perhaps the theater would suit me best, because there is a stage, and a stage is the music”revealed the former model.

If Carla Bruni were to play a role, it would be a very different profile from hers. “Someone very different from me. That’s what’s fun in a role, right? Playing an old lady for example”she had fun during her interview with the Sunday newspaper. In any case, her return to Venice to present this documentary fills her with joy. Indeed, during her interview, she took pleasure in recalling all her memories in the city of love, in particular her first visit, when she was aged “18 or 19 years old”. “With a small group of friends, we were returning from a ski holiday. […] On the way back, we decided to make a detour via Venice. What an unforgettable feeling when you arrive!“, recalled Carla Bruni. The love story was instantaneous: “Afterwards, I went back there a lot, often for work. […] I even sang in Venice in 2022, during the first edition of the Red Sea Festival, honoring women in Arab cinema”, she said. Realization of her love at first sight for the Cité des Ponts, in 2018, she celebrated her ten years of marriage there with Nicolas Sarkozy.
