Carmaker hits the Metaverse and Web3 at full throttle

BMW is preparing for the leap into Web3. In the USA enough the German carmaker applied for NFT and Metaverse patents to protect its own brand. Specifically, the registrations relate to downloadable multimedia files, but also to virtual garments authenticated by “non-fungible tokens”. In addition, BMW had its logo protected in virtual space.

The car manufacturer had previously experimented with its own NFT collection on the OpenSea marketplace. The patent applications now indicate a further commitment.

Because the competition never sleeps. In addition to Hyundai and US giant Ford, Mercedes-Benz also applied for patents for NFTs and the Metaverse. Alfa Romeo goes even further. In the upcoming “Tonale” model, the Italian carmaker is installing an NFT feature that is intended to help against speedometer fraud. However, the race for Web3 has only just begun.
