CARMAT announces a software improvement to significantly strengthen the safety profile of its Aeson® artificial heart – 12/28/2023 at 6:00 p.m.

Stéphane Piat, Managing Director of CARMAT, said: “In all industries, electronic components are potentially subject to failure because their production perfection is almost impossible to achieve. It was important to be able to manage such risks in the case of our prosthesis, and I am therefore very proud of the feat achieved by our software engineers: now, for many of the potential malfunctions linked to electronic components of the prosthesis, the software of ‘Aeson® will automatically “correct” these defects by appropriately adapting the functioning of the prosthesis, so that the patient’s support is not impacted. For me, this is a major and immediate breakthrough for all patients who benefit and will benefit from our therapy; but also in the long term with a view to obtaining the destination therapy indication for Aeson®, because this improvement significantly strengthens the safety profile and therefore the durability potential of the prosthesis. »
