(Boursier.com) — Carmignac announces the arrival of Kristofer Barrett, an international equity manager among the most successful in its investment universe, to join its investment team in London from April 8, 2024.
Kristofer will take the reins of the Carmignac Investissement strategy as well as the equity portion of the Carmignac Patrimoine strategy and will also join the strategic investment committee.
This arrival follows David Older’s decision to retire and leave the company on April 4, 2024.

For the management of the Heritage strategy, Kristofer will work alongside the two pairs of experts promoted last September to serve the three performance drivers that the strategy now has: security selection, management of the bond portfolio and the currency exposure and management of the macro-economic component, portfolio construction and risk management.
Of American and Swedish nationality, Kristofer graduated in business and finance from Uppsala University in Sweden. He joins Carmignac from Swedbank Robur, where he has managed several equity funds in developed and emerging markets since 2006. In April 2016, Kristofer took responsibility for an international equity strategy, now rated five stars by Morningstar and with assets under management of around 10 billion euros. In March 2020, he was appointed manager of a technology equity fund, now also rated five stars by Morningstar and whose assets under management reach 12.8 billion euros.

Kristofer is an expert in stock picking. With a proven investment approach combining in-depth fundamental business research and pragmatic macroeconomic analysis, Kristofer has achieved exceptional long-term results. Since he took over management in April 2016, the international equity fund has outperformed its benchmark index and the average for its category by 133% and 145% respectively, and assets under management have multiplied by almost five. Likewise, the technology equity fund which he took over management in March 2020 outperformed its benchmark index and the average for its category by 105% and 89% respectively while, at the same time, its assets under management have almost triple.

Édouard Carmignac said: “The arrival of Kristofer illustrates the attractiveness of Carmignac for entrepreneurs who have a passion for conviction-based active management. His past results are very impressive and I am convinced that his proven investment process will greatly benefit to our customers in the long term.
I would also like to thank David Older for his contribution to the development of the Carmignac equities team. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best for the future.”

Kristofer Barrett adds: “The next few years promise to be pivotal years on the equity markets. I am convinced that active management, allowing convictions to be implemented in portfolios, is the key to success in this changing environment. Carmignac has made its reputation, in part, on its ability to position itself against the grain whenever necessary and I look forward to joining its team of talented managers.”
“After nine exciting years at Carmignac, the time has come for me to retire. I leave the team and funds in good hands and will continue to closely monitor Carmignac’s future successes,” concludes David Older.
