  • Carnival Row Season 2 premiered on February 17, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.
  • In the 10 final episodes of the series, the story of Vignette and her Philo is told to the end.
  • In an interview, lead actor Orlando Bloom reveals what we can expect in the finale.

Amazon’s fantasy epic “Carnival Row” has been quiet for four years. Four years in which the series was believed by many to be dead. But then came the surprising announcement of new episodes that were supposed to appear in summer 2020. The friends about further adventures with Philo and Vignette were quickly followed by disillusionment, because after 2 seasons the series is actually supposed to end.

In an interview with the Canadian magazine “Collider”, leading actor Orlando Bloom now talks about the end of his time as police inspector Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate. For the main actor and executive producer of the show, the end is anything but surprising and unexpected.

Honestly, I like the idea of people wanting more. These things can go on and on and on and then people will say, “She was good in season 1 or through season 2 and then she lost me.” I like the idea that we’re going with a bang and giving everyone the bigger and better version of what the show could be. That makes me feel good.

The actor goes on to explain that the lockdown has helped him and his team rethink the show for themselves. They had no stipulation as to how long the series should run. Neither through a book template nor through Amazon itself. So they reconsidered their plans and decided to end the series at its peak.

I think the ending suits my character. It’s so lifelike and honest. It was important for Vignette to return to where she came from. But Philo has nowhere to return to. So where will he go now? He’s half-fairy, but what does that mean? The ending is so real. There’s no Hollywood ending, and that’s what I love about it.

However, one reason for the end after only two seasons will not only have been the producers’ wish. The rather moderate ratings of the fantasy series will also have contributed to its end. Contrary to Amazon’s hopes, the top-class series did not become a hit for the streaming service.

Still, the history of the fae in Burgue should not end without a fitting conclusion. Amazon extended the final season from the planned eight episodes to a total of 10, in which Philo, Vignette and their other companions can find happiness.

The second season of “Carnival Row” started on February 17, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. Two more episodes a week will now be released each Friday until the grand finale of the Fae in Burgue airs on March 17, 2023.
