Carrot oil for hair

Carrot oil is great for caring for broken hair ends. It is also said to have a positive effect on hair loss – however, there are no studies on this.

A DIY recipe against split ends:

Warm carrot oil slightly, massage into the ends of your hair, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Important: Do not use the carrot oil on the scalp, because the carotenes discolor them – which is particularly irritating with light hair.

Make carrot oil yourself – this is how it works

You can even get pure carrot oil in drugstores (e.g. from Diaderma). But it’s not that difficult to make carrot oil yourself. You need:

  • 20 ml cold-pressed sesame oil (jojoba oil or almond oil is also possible)
  • a grated carrot (preferably organically grown)
  • a large lockable jar
  • a sterile glass bottle (boil beforehand)
  • a pot
  • a kitchen towel or a clean tea towel

And so it goes: Put the sesame oil and a grated carrot in the sealable glass and pour it into the hot water bath. Heat until the rasps are soft and the oil is colored orange. Strain the mixture through a clean tea towel and pour into the storage bottles.
