The royals bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth. During the procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, Queen Camilla, Catherine, Princess of Wales and Duchess Meghan don looks that express their bond with the late monarch.

It was to be expected that all Royal Ladies would wear black for the procession through London. It’s still worth taking a closer look at the looks of Queen Camilla, 75, Duchess Catherine, 40, and Duchess Meghan, 41. Because it is above all with their accessories that the ladies of the British royal family send a message in the direction of the late Queen Elizabeth. Also on her visit to Sandringham, Catherine, Princess of Wales wears a special piece of jewelery which she has rarely seen before and which is a special keepsake of Elizabeth.

Duchess Catherine follows the procession on September 14, 2022 in a car with her mother-in-law Camilla. Kate wears an elegant coat dress with darts by Catherine Walker. In addition, she combines a black hat with a net – she is following a royal tradition. Veils are only worn to see off deceased monarchs. Particular attention is paid to the brooch worn by the mother of three. The leaf-shaped brooch, set with diamonds and pearls, was part of Queen Elizabeth’s jewelery collection. The jewel consists of three leaves, each set in yellow gold. In the center of each leaf is a large Mabe pearl set with small diamonds. Queen Elizabeth herself last wore the brooch in South Korea in 1999, Kate previously showed it off during a visit to Belgium in 2017 and on Remembrance Day in 2018.

Kate’s earrings and bracelet are also made of pearls and have a special meaning: They once belonged to Princess Diana.

On September 15, 2022, Kate and William will visit Sandringham, where they often spent Christmas with Queen Elizabeth. In front of Norwich Gate on the Sandringham estate in eastern England, the two meet fans and supporters of the royal family, who offer their condolences. For the occasion, Kate has once again chosen a piece of jewelry that focuses on her special connection to the late monarch. She wears a striking cross pendant necklace alongside pearl earrings from the royal collection. It’s likely the same piece she last wore to Trooping the Color and the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Queen Camilla also appears in mourning at the procession. The Queen Consort wears an elegant sheath dress with patch pockets and a suggested V-neckline. She combines it with a black hat. The king’s wife honors Queen Elizabeth with a large pearl necklace – a special piece of jewelry that royals use to express their mourning. On her left side she also wears a diamond brooch in the shape of a stick insect, said to have been a gift from her late father, Major Bruce Shand. She often wears them on memorial and remembrance occasions.

Duchess Meghan also wears an appropriate mourning outfit with a black coat, probably from Givenchy, black tights and black pumps. She also wears a headpiece with a mesh veil that covers her eyes. With her earrings, she sends a sweet message to the late Queen. She received the small pearl earrings from the monarch shortly after her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. She also wore them to her only solo date with Queen Elizabeth in 2018.
