Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Duchess Meghan met for the first time in months at Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral. An incident immediately ensued, which Prince William had to deal with skillfully.

Ironically, at the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth, † 96, on September 19, 2022, there was an embarrassing incident between Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, and Duchess Meghan, 42. Together with their family, the two women walked behind the pallbearers into St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. A little away from the scenes there was some confusion about the order of the seats.

The procession behind the Queen’s coffin is clearly visible in the photos. Behind Prince William, 41, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Catherine, Princess of Wales follow Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan. However, the order in which they were seated on the pew is reversed: here the Sussexes had to line up first to be able to take their seats – and that caused confusion for Catherine.

As evidenced by images from the BBC recordings, the royal family briefly jammed when going to church. The reason: Catherine seemed to have rushed into the line. Prince William told his wife to pause for a moment, reports the “Mirror”. Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan should sit on the bench in front of the Wales family. Catherine was already walking down the aisle – and had to step back to let her brother-in-law and his wife go first.

Princess Charlotte shared a cute moment with Uncle Harry

Then it was Princess Charlotte who took a seat between her mother Catherine and her uncle Harry. The little offspring royal watched her great-grandmother’s funeral with a sad expression. Nevertheless, she provided a cute moment on the sidelines of the funeral – and of all things with Prince Harry.

After a moment of confusion over the seating order, Charlotte took a seat next to her uncle and adjusted her hat. The mini-princess then glanced over at Harry, who caught her eye and smiled back. Maybe a small and quiet sign for: everything will be fine.
