Joan Collins, 90, has been in show business for around seven decades and celebrated her first successes as an actress in the 1950s. In 2015, the Briton was made a dame by Queen Elizabeth, †96, for her charitable services. Over the course of her career, there have been quite a few meetings with members of the Royal Family, including Princess Diana, 36. Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, still managed to upset the Hollywood diva with her presence.

Joan Collins attended the Queen’s Jubilee

In her book “Behind The Shoulder Pads”, the 90-year-old remembers the moment that happened as part of the Queen’s jubilee in June 2022. Joan Collins took part in a motorcade down London’s famous Mall during the celebrations. Dressed in a pink suit with a hat and gloves, she rode in the parade alongside her husband Percy Gibson, 58, in an old Jaguar.

“We finally arrived at the Royal Box, which was full of royals and relatives of the Queen. As we got out of the Jaguar, trying to look presentable after two hours in the freezing wind, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo waved excitedly,” quotes, among other things, “Hello” from her memoirs. “Then he nudged Princess Anne, who in turn nudged Prince Charles and Camilla, and everyone waved and smiled at us and said, ‘Well done!’ That was really very gratifying.”

Little faux pas when meeting Catherine, Princess of Wales

She was then led to a retreat room behind the box, where she collapsed onto a sofa and was offered a cup of tea. “Suddenly a vision appeared in a red dress. Catherine, the [damalige] Duchess of Cambridge, with her two small children in tow,” said Collins. Prince Williams, 41, wife said kindly “Hello, Joan” and held out his hand. “‘Hello, ma’am,’ I swallowed and forgot one to curtsy,” Joan Collins reports of her little mishap in affect.

Kate, however, seems to have simply ignored the breach of protocol and introduced her children Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. “‘This is Charlotte and this is Louis,’ she said, and both little people politely held out their tiny hands for a handshake,” the “Denver Clan” icon enthuses about their encounter.

Joan Collins and Catherine are no longer strangers. They previously met at a dramatic arts reception at Buckingham Palace in 2014 and at the Royal Variety Performance in 2017 when Kate was pregnant with Louis.
