Mats and Cathy Hummels’ marriage has been the subject of scrutiny for years. After rumors of separation, there are now speculations about a final divorce, which is currently said to be ongoing. Does Cathy now answer the headlines herself on Instagram?
Cathy Hummels, 34, and her husband Mats Hummels, 33, are reportedly seeking a divorce. “Image” wants to know that. So far, the couple has not commented on the rumours. When asked by GALA, Cathy Hummels’ management said: “Unfortunately, this request remains unanswered on our part.”
But there is anything but silence on the TV presenter’s Instagram channel. The 34-year-old is active and speaks up every day. Cathy Hummels delivers cryptic lines that point to an answer.
Cathy Hummels: “I accept it and I’m as positive as I can”
On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the author took to the web just hours after the divorce rumors began circulating. She writes about a series of pictures: “When one door closes, a new one opens. I don’t like changes that much. But accepting them helps, even if it hurts [sic]. I accept it and as always I am positive as much as possible. For Louis. To me. For our life. Let’s go – only where?”
What is immediately noticeable: Cathy does not explicitly mention her husband, deliberately omitting his name. She emphasizes a life that revolves around her son Ludwig Hummels, 3, and herself.
Ludwig currently has to “lift a lot emotionally”
It’s not the first post to hint at Cathy and Mats’ breakup — or possibly divorce. Two days earlier, the 34-year-old explained that her son was going through a difficult time. “He also has to do a lot emotionally, but I’m doing my best,” said Cathy on Instagram. Cryptic lines instead of a clear statement.
It remains to be seen whether the Hummels family will comment on the rumors in the near future. “I’m also sure that everything will clear up at some point,” Cathy said on June 18, 2022 on the GALA program on RTL about the rumors of separation. What is certain, however, is that the moderator and her son are currently going through a phase of “change” that is burdening both.
