The fire in a Billa branch in Breitenfurt near Vienna was probably caused by a technical defect. Five fire brigades with 135 members were on fire on Wednesday night.
The flames were quickly brought under control using two turntable ladders and several pipes from the outside and partly from the inside using heavy breathing apparatus. The extinguishing work took several hours. However, the investigations by the state and federal criminal investigation offices were not yet fully completed. The surveys will continue on Friday, emphasized police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner.
