Cautious openings – mask, G-rules: This applies from Saturday in Vienna

Vienna’s motto is more cautious than the rest of Austria when it comes to relaxing the pandemic rules from Saturday. In some areas, however, it is opened carefully and the mask is dropped. What will apply from tomorrow where – here is an overview:

Local visits: Unlike in the other federal states, the 2G rule (vaccination or recovery certificate) for guests still applies in Vienna. However, the FFP2 mask requirement does not apply to both staff and customers. Night restaurants and hotels: The curfew regulations are no longer applicable and the clubs and discotheques can open their doors again. But 2G is also necessary there. Hotel guests no longer need a G-proof – except for the catering area in the companies. Events, sports: The federal rules for outdoor events are adopted. For indoor events, however, there is still a mask requirement in Vienna, 2G is no longer applicable. In indoor sports, the opposite measure applies: the 2G rule still applies, no mask has to be worn for this. Trade, body-related service providers: In essential trade (supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, post office), the mask requirement continues to apply – also for staff with direct customer contact. In the rest of the trade, customers are still required to wear a mask. However, employees can do without the mask. The same applies to services close to the body: the customers need a mask, the staff does not. Public transport: As in all public transport in Austria, masks must continue to be worn in Vienna. Hospitals: 2.5G will apply to visitors in the future. In addition to a vaccination or recovery certificate, a negative PCR test (not older than 48 hours) may also be presented. However, the mask must continue to be worn. 2.5G and mask requirements also apply to staff – including permanent PCR screening. Kindergartens: At least parents or external guests must continue to wear masks. The 3G rule applies to children between the ages of six and eleven where a G rule is a prerequisite for access, for example in pubs. In addition to the vaccination or recovery certificate, a negative PCR test (not older than 48 hours) or an antigen rapid test (not older than 24 hours) carried out by an authorized body may also be presented. Schools: A fully completed Ninja Pass is automatically valid until the end of the respective calendar week – at least until the age of twelve. Young people up to the end of compulsory schooling can also use a PCR test (not older than 48 hours) for areas with the G rule. Workplace: There is no longer any difference in the workplace. The federal government has repealed the 3G regulation there. This also applies to Vienna. The so-called Vienna Covid-19 Basic Measures Accompanying Ordinance is valid until March 31st.
