Since the announcement of a new Superman movie with a brand new actor, rumors have been swirling around. But this time it is completely official information to get your teeth into.
With the end of Snyder’s film universe and the departure of Henry Cavill in the cult role of Superman, expectations are high for the cast of the next film. Who could embody the most famous superhero again on the big screen? In the hearts of many, Cavill was untouchable and yet we will have to make up our minds: soon the Kryptonian will have a whole new face. Brown, blonde, African American? The clues are thin but James Gunn is in any case very enthusiastic within his declaration on Bluesky.
Superman Legacy, the promise of a crazy cast
Obviously James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios has a very busy schedule at the moment. He explains in particular that he spent a weekend auditioning to find the star of Superman: Legacy. If for the moment we have no name to put in our mouths, he declares with passion:

Gunn’s update on Superman’s casting comes after another statement from the director/CEO that he was “refining” the list of actors who were set to portray the Man of Steel on the big screen in the future. It must be said that the task should not be easy because Henry Cavill was for many the ideal man for the role and Gunn must have a monster pressure on his shoulders to satisfy both his artistic vision, the investors and the fans including a number are rocked by the SnyderVerse.
Who to play the role of Superman?
On some rumors of names, James Gunn just explained that some were false without disentangling the true from the false. We will therefore be satisfied with the actors who are potentially in the running for the role, namely Nicholas Hoult ( The Great ), David Corenswet ( The Politician ) and Tom Brittney ( Greyhound ). Names to portray Lois Lane include Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Rachel Brosnahan ( The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel) and Phoebe Dynevor ( Bridgerton). It must be admitted that for Superman, each of the actors corresponds to the role. It’s particularly stunning for David Corenswet who even has a false air of Henry Cavill. In this list we note the absence of African-American actors while it is a persistent rumor for the future of the franchise. What to think?
