The worries about Heinz Hoenig, 72, do not stop: While the German actor is currently in a coma after he had to have emergency heart surgery, his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig, 39, does not leave his side. It has now become known that the planned second operation had to be postponed. The family is also collecting money to be able to pay for the procedure.

Heinz Hoenig’s family is collecting money for the second operation

As RTL has learned, a second, larger heart operation is planned after Hoenig had a stent inserted on Thursday, May 2nd. This is very expensive; such an operation could cost around 90,000 euros. The problem: The actor shouldn’t have health insurance and would therefore have to cover the costs himself. His family is now publicly asking for help. On a “GoFundMe” page, which Hoenig’s artist agency Siegelring set up, is officially asking for donations for the sick actor. “Due to Heinz Hoenig’s currently critical health condition, we would like to ask for help!” is the appeal of the initiators. The goal: 50,000 euros should be raised in the end, but so far (as of May 4th) only a little more than 9,000 euros have been donated.

“I’ve never been so scared”

“I’ve been trying to get him into health insurance for three years,” says Hoenig’s wife Annika in an interview with RTL about the desperate situation. “I really tried everything […] Money is unimportant to me. I just want to have my husband.” Hoenig’s condition is critical, they say. The second heart operation, which was actually scheduled for Friday, May 3rd, apparently had to be postponed again. “My husband is in a life-threatening condition . I’ve never been as scared in my life as I am now. “I just know that I don’t want to lose my husband,” says Hoenig’s wife. Together with the actor she has two small children who were only born in 2020 and 2022.
