How would you describe this miniseries?
Cecile Bois: It’s a thriller with comedy-drama elements. This extremely banal sports teacher wanted a change of scenery when she met her pretty neighbor who turns out to be a manipulator. She let herself be seduced much more than reason…
Does Élodie look like you?
The common point is that we are porous to love! Like her, I’m a lover, I want my heart to beat. For the rest, I would not have made the same choices as her.
Élodie has a complicated relationship with her daughter. Did you draw inspiration from your personal experience?
I don’t have conflicting relationships with my children (she has two daughters, editor’s note) because we favor dialogue. But in a past life, I had stepchildren with whom relationships were more complicated. Am I inspired by it? Let’s say I’ve been through this before.
In addicted, there are moments of strong erotic tension. We’re not used to seeing you in love scenes…
Until now, I had always refused. I am a very modest person and it is difficult for me to let go of things that I find intimate. I talked a lot about my fears with Didier Le Pecheur, director. I was lucky that my partners were not only exemplary, but also inspiring and respectful.
It’s the first time you’ve shot with Medi Sadoun, who plays your husband, and Sagamore Stévenin, who plays your neighbour. How did it go ?
Medi is a boy of great kindness, who pacifies everything. Sagamore, he has a fiery temperament, who thinks very quickly, a bit wild. It was exciting and stimulating to work alongside them.
Many actresses aged 40 and over are sorry to be less solicited by directors. What inspires you?
There is a time not so long ago when to play a 40-year-old woman, you took a 25-year-old actress. Today, that changes, even if I observe that the woman of 40 or 50 years must still be desirable. Talent comes later! For actors, there is no expiration date, it’s easier. The battles waged are not over. The road is still long!
Is there planned for a season 11 of Candice Renoir?
No, as I speak to you, there is no eleventh season in the works. We shot a single in Corsica in May. There’s another one in the works. One thing is certain, I love this character who allowed me to evolve as an actress.
Do you have other projects?
I am currently spinning The Taste of Crime in Lyon, for France 3. I play a cook who has quit her job and is going to take part in an investigation into murders committed around her.
