The inauguration of Joe Biden is honored with a special TV special. Not only Hollywood star Tom Hanks is part of the party.
The inauguration of the newly elected US President Joe Biden (78) will be celebrated on January 20 with a TV special. The show called "Celebrating America" is hosted by none other than Oscar winner Tom Hanks (64), as reported by "The Hollywood Reporter", among others. The actor is also joined by numerous greats from the US music scene.

Pop star Demi Lovato (28, "Tell Me You Love Me"), who was "speechless" "when I was asked to perform," writes the singer proudly on Instagram, will be on stage. Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi (58, "These Days") also performs his iconic voice. Justin Timberlake (39) is also performing his new song "Better Days", which was written during the pandemic, together with singer-songwriter Ant Clemons (29). With the song, the duo wanted to "encourage everyone to remain hopeful," Timberlake writes on Instagram.
In addition to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris (56) will of course also be sworn into the office of Vice President. Both will have their say on the TV show and talk about democracy, the corona crisis and the healthcare system. Usually, the inauguration of the new president in the USA is always celebrated in a big way. However, traditional celebrations in Washington, D.C. not held this year due to the pandemic. The TV show is set to serve as a replacement, according to the head of the organizing committee, Tony Allen.
The special will run in the USA on January 20th from 8:30 p.m. (German time from 2:30 a.m.) on all major channels, including ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and MSNBC. The program is also broadcast on all social media platforms, such as Twitter, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Amazon Prime Video.
The trumps stay away
Donald Trump (74), on the other hand, will stay away from the swearing-in, as he announced on his Twitter account a week ago: "To everyone who asked: I will not go to the inauguration on January 20th." The incumbent US president is breaking with American tradition. Daughter Ivanka Trump (39) will also not be present at the inauguration, as "People" magazine claims to have learned from a White House employee.
