Céline Quatennens slapped by her husband: LFI’s huge discomfort in the middle of a press conference, “that’s my answer”

After the deputy Adrien Quatennens admitted having been violent towards his wife in the context of their divorce, La France Insoumise organized a press conference on Tuesday September 20, 2022, during which there was enormous discomfort.

Storm warning within La France Insoumise. Coordinator of the left-wing political party embodied by former presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Adrien Quatennens has decided to step down. Sunday, September 18, 2022, the one who was re-elected deputy in the last legislative elections acknowledged through a press release that he had been the perpetrator of violence against his wife, Céline Quatennens. In fact, Adrien Quatennens, who is in the process of divorcing his wife, admitted to having slapped him in anger in the past. On his side, Céline Quatennens filed a handrail with the police against her future ex-husband.

If the two spouses did not want the affair to be made public, it was unfortunately too late. Faced with the possible scandal that this could cause for La France Insoumise, Adrien Quatennens therefore preferred to withdraw by admitting his fault. A decision hailed by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “Police malice, media voyeurism, social networks were invited in the conflictual divorce of Adrien and Céline Quatennens. Adrien decides to take it all on himself. I salute his dignity and his courage. I tell him my trust and my affection“, he wrote on Twitter. Words that angered many people on social networks.

Quatennens case: LFI deputies hesitate to speak on the subject during their press conference

Adrien Quatennens admits to having been violent with his wife on several occasions and you support him. Shame on you ! You and your movement are anything but feminist! By doing this, you spit in the face of women who are victims of domestic violence“, in particular wrote a user. “An attack (acknowledged by its author) is not a simple ‘conflictual divorce’ between two parties that you present as equally responsible, when there is only one victim“, indicated for his part Rokhaya Diallo. For its part, La France Insoumise decided to organize a press conference on Tuesday September 20, 2022, which was broadcast live on BFM TV.

During this speech by the executives of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party, the discomfort was palpableespecially following a fairly direct question about the words of the former presidential candidate, who supported Adrien Quatennens in this case. “We have a press release which was made by the coordination of La France Insoumise, in which we all find ourselves“, declared Mathilde Panot, the president of the LFI group in the National Assembly. After a journalist pointed out the fact thatshe didn’t answer the questionthe member curtly replied: “This is my answer“. Following the insistence of the reporter, a moment of hesitation occurred, because no one seemed to want to speak. It’s finally Daniele Obono who devoted herselfwithout however managing to hide his immense hesitation when responding to the journalist concerning Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
