Cell phone confiscated – house search in the town hall in Hallein

Police marched on Wednesday morning in the Hallein town hall in Salzburg. They ransacked the premises and confiscated a cell phone and laptop. The background is a complaint by Mayor Alexander Stangassinger (SPÖ) against unknown persons.

The city chief made the announcement several weeks ago. It is about the suspicion of a violation of official secrecy. Why the whole thing? In the course of the case surrounding the former head of Halleins’ office – who was suspended last year – internal matters were obviously made public, i.e. the media. According to “Krone” information, the police’s chief of personnel is the focus of the investigation. There is also said to have been a house search in his private household. The mayor sticks to his personnel manager. “I’m sure that he has not published anything,” explains Stangassinger. He did create the confidential documents that went public. But: “I am 100 percent sure that he has not passed anything on to the media.”
