Acer had no intention of missing CES 2022. The opportunity was perfect to unveil two new products from the Predator range, including a particularly large OLED screen.
The Predator range from ACER is the one that concerns gaming. Logically, the two new monitors presented were tailor-made for players and aesthetes.
ACER Predator CG48: The giant
The first of them is the ACER Predator CG48 which still offers a 48-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of 138 Hz. Yes you read that correctly, the screen makes the choice of the difference and does not offer the sacrosanct 144 Hz. On the connectivity side, it has HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports, four USB 3.2 ports, but also a USB-C capable of supporting a laptop at 65 W.
ACER specifies that the monitor, which almost doubles as a television in size, is fully compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology. What optimizes the fluidity at best. The response time is announced at 0.1 ms, which is explained in particular by the presence of an OLED screen.
For color rendering, the manufacturer finally announces support for HDR10 and 98% of the DCI-P3 space. The Predator ACER CG48 will not be available until the third quarter of 2022, at the rather prohibitive price of 2,199 euros. At this price, we will necessarily mature our thinking before deciding.
Predator X32 and X32 FP: The mini-LED
The other screen that comes in two models is the ACER Predator X32 and X32 FP. As the name suggests, these are 32-inch monitors with an IPS 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) panel. The X32 can achieve a refresh rate of 120Hz over HDMI 2.0 and 160Hz using a DisplayPort 1.4 connector. This therefore exceeds the famous 144 Hz, which is currently very rare for 4K monitors, not to say almost non-existent.
The X32 covers 99% of the Adobe RGB color space and claims the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. To further strengthen the fluidity, the support for Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate should be noted. On the contrast / brightness side, ACER announces a peak of 1000 nits in HDR mode.
The X32 FP offers the same basics but goes a little further, since it allows 160 Hz to be done in 4K with an overclocking that allows it to go up to 165 Hz.
